Lily Gladstone and Kiowa Gordon to Star in Horror-Western The Curse of Silver

Lily Gladstone and Kiowa Gordon will star in The Curse of Silver, a supernatural horror-western set on the Texas-Mexico border after the American Civil War, Deadline reported on 28 September. Geoff Marslett and Gordon will co-direct, sharing creative leadership across performance and camera. The screenplay comes from Marslett and Rafael A. Ruiz.
The story follows two Union deserters, Deadline reported. They haul a cursed chest of Confederate silver into a besieged town. The theft unleashes supernatural violence on the people trapped there.
The project is one of 80 titles selected for the 2026 Gotham Week Project Market, Deadline reported. The market, an organised meeting place where makers of unfinished films seek partners, finance and sales, runs from 27 September to 3 October in Brooklyn. Selection does not mean a film is funded or dated for release. It places the team before potential buyers and backers.
Liz Cardenas and Ram Getz are attached as producers, overseeing the day-to-day build of the film, Deadline reported. Gladstone, Gordon and Michael Mortensen will serve as executive producers, a role that usually involves guiding the project and helping secure support. Co-direction means Marslett and Gordon will jointly make key creative decisions, from casting through the visual style.
Marslett previously directed Quantum Cowboys. That earlier film also featured Gladstone and Gordon in its ensemble alongside John Way, David Arquette, Frank Mosley, Gary Farmer and Trieste Kelly Dunn, according to Factory 25. Gordon has recently wrapped season five of AMC's Dark Winds, while Gladstone next stars opposite Michael B. Jordan in The Thomas Crown Affair, due out in March 2027, Deadline reported.
A horror-western, in plain terms, means frontier action crossed with the supernatural. Think small towns, open country and horses, then add a ghost story. Here the curse is tied to stolen wartime silver. It is a tight premise. Two men walk in. A whole town pays.
What makes this stand out is the doubling of duties. Gordon stars and co-directs. Gladstone stars and executive produces. The team arrives in Brooklyn with familiar faces and a clear selling point, a siege story with a curse at its centre.
