Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen will star together in a new comedy for AMC and AMC+.

Happy Jack, a half-hour family comedy, has been ordered for six episodes, Deadline reported on 29 September 2026. The announcement puts the two actors at the centre of the same series again, this time on the AMC television service and its streaming sibling.

The six-episode order is a straight-to-series order, meaning no pilot is shot first. Instead the show goes directly into full production as a first season. AMC Studios, the production arm behind the order, will produce the series.

Cameras will roll at Warner Bros. Studios. The plan, as reported, is to start production ahead of a launch in 2027.

Casting is simple and central to the setup. Charlie Sheen will play Jack. Martin Sheen will play Jack's father. The story therefore turns on a father-son relationship, played across two generations of the same screen family.

Behind the camera, Jim Patterson and Matt Ross will write the series. They will also executive produce and serve as showrunners, meaning they take charge of the writers' room and guide creative decisions from script to screen. That role covers casting choices, story arcs across the six episodes, and the tone of each half-hour instalment, with each episode built to fill a 30-minute slot.

Charlie Sheen will also executive produce, meaning he holds a senior creative and business role alongside acting. The other executive producers on the project are Todd Christopher, Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Jason Wang. Their credits sit alongside Patterson and Ross at the top of the production team.

The pairing has history. The two actors previously played father and son in the film Wall Street. They played father and son again on television in Anger Management, which premiered on FX in 2012. Happy Jack will be their third screen outing in that same family configuration.

What makes this stand out is the short, contained shape of the order. Six episodes gives the creative team one clear story to set up, tell and close. For fans, this means a wait until 2027, when the series is due to arrive on both AMC and AMC+.
