Megan Thee Stallion says she is still in shock after her abrupt split from Klay Thompson.

The rapper addressed the break-up in a Marie Claire cover story published on Tuesday, Sept. 29. It is her most detailed public reflection since she confirmed the end of the relationship in April, according to Billboard. She called the ending sudden. She said the shock has lingered for months.

She spoke plainly about how she felt during the relationship. She said she lived in a panic 24/7. She said she felt constantly on edge while they were together. She said she ignored her intuition throughout, setting aside her own instincts again and again.

That strain is the centre of the interview. She did not describe a calm partnership that faded. She described pressure that built day to day. The language is stark and personal, and it comes entirely in her own words.

The relationship was brief and public. The pair went public at the Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City in July 2025. That red-carpet appearance confirmed they were together. The relationship lasted from mid-2025 to April 2026, less than a year from first public outing to split.

The break-up played out in public in April. Megan Thee Stallion announced the split on Instagram, as reported by Marie Claire. In those posts she accused Thompson of cheating. She also accused him of having what she called “HORRIBLE mood swings.” Those are her allegations, made in her own announcement.

She then confirmed the position in a statement to PEOPLE on Saturday, April 25, saying she had ended the relationship, according to PEOPLE. That statement removed any doubt about where things stood. April marked the formal and public end.

Five months on, she says she is not looking to move quickly into something new. She said she is not ready for another serious relationship after the April split. The focus, in her telling, is steadiness and space. Rest first. Dating later.

What stands out here is the tone. There is no victory lap and no score-settling beyond what she already posted. There is an account of stress, self-doubt and a clean break, told directly and without embellishment.
