Carrie White is back on screen on Wednesday, October 7, in an eight-part series for Prime Video.

All eight episodes will arrive at once, meaning viewers can watch the full season straight through from launch day. Amazon MGM Studios lists the show as an Original Series launching October 7, 2026, with worldwide distribution.

The series is created by Mike Flanagan from the novel by Stephen King, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Flanagan directed four of the eight episodes. Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, with Samantha Sloyan as her mother, Margaret White.

The rest of the billed cast includes Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Thalia Dudek, Amber Midthunder and Matthew Lillard. Amazon MGM Studios has described the project as a “bold and timely reimagining” of the story of high-schooler Carrie White.

Prime Video’s synopsis sets up a sheltered life. Carrie White has spent her life hidden away inside her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret. That organised isolation is where the new version begins.

The road to launch has been carefully staged. Amazon ordered the series for Prime Video in 2025. Prime Video then released first-look images on July 13, followed by a teaser trailer on July 25 and an official trailer on September 9. Flanagan also lined up his first-ever San Diego Comic-Con appearance as part of Prime Video’s 2026 programming, alongside Howell, Sloyan, Agudong and Thornton.

Author Stephen King has already weighed in. In a post on Threads, he called Flanagan’s version of CARRIE “brilliant,” as reported by Deadline. King added that what the show has to say about social media is “shocking and true.”

For fans, this means a short wait. The full season lands next week. The Hollywood Reporter published its review on October 1, six days out from premiere night.
