All eight episodes of 'Carrie' arrive on Prime Video on Oct. 7. The complete season lands in one go, so there is no weekly wait. Variety

Summer H. Howell leads the cast as Carrie White. Samantha Sloyan plays Margaret, Carrie's mother, and Tahmoh Penikett plays Ralph, her father. Siena Agudong plays classmate Sue Snell, while Alison Thornton plays Christine Hargensen. Variety

The series is based on Stephen King's debut novel and adapted for television by Mike Flanagan. An adaptation means an existing book is reshaped into scripts for the screen. Here the story is serialised across eight episodes rather than told in a single sitting.

The road to the screen played out in public over about 18 months. The project was first reported to be in development at Amazon in October 2024. It then received its official greenlight in April 2025, meaning formal approval to go into production. Variety

Amazon MGM Studios now lists 'Carrie' as an Original Series, its label for a show made to debut on its own service, with a launch date of Oct. 7, 2026. Prime Video gave viewers a first visual tease on July 13, 2026, when it released first-look images from Flanagan's production. Variety

Reviews began to appear in the week before launch. The Hollywood Reporter published its review on Oct. 1, written by Daniel Fienberg, assessing how Flanagan expands King's horror story for Amazon. The Hollywood Reporter

On the same day, Rotten Tomatoes rounded up early critical reaction. It summarised the first reviews as calling the 2026 series a fresh, modern take, with critics describing Howell's performance as Carrie as heartbreaking. Rotten Tomatoes

Variety published its own TV review on launch day, Oct. 7, describing the Prime Video run as a captivating reimagining of King's story adapted for TV by Flanagan. Variety

For viewers coming to the story cold, this means no homework is required. You do not need to have read the novel or tracked earlier screen versions to start this eight-part telling. All episodes are available on Prime Video from Oct. 7.
