PlatinumGames president Atsushi Inaba wants to expand Bayonetta and broaden her world.

He spoke during Tokyo Game Show about a crossover linking his studio's long-running action series to Stellar Blade, the fast-moving combat game developed by SHIFT UP. The interview was published on 4 October 2026. Eurogamer

The crossover puts four Bayonetta-themed costumes into Stellar Blade Complete Edition, a version of the game that bundles the base game with extras, on Nintendo Switch 2 in November. Inaba met Shift Up chief executive and Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung-tae at the show to discuss the collaboration.

Kim made no secret of his affection for the character. He called Bayonetta "an indispensable work in my life" and named it as one of his three favourite games. He also designed a Bayonetta-inspired "Black Dress" costume for Stellar Blade.

He wants more. Kim asked to design characters for the next Bayonetta entry. Inaba gave nothing away about that future game.

Wait and see, he said.

For fans, this means talk of what comes next rather than confirmation of it. Inaba said he wants Bayonetta to grow, but declined to give specifics about a next entry.

The context is a series in transition. Series creator Hideki Kamiya left PlatinumGames in October 2023. He had envisioned Bayonetta as a nine-part saga. Bayonetta 3 was directed by Yusuke Miyata and released on 28 October 2022, a date listed on PlatinumGames' news page.

The series follows its witch heroine across a mythology that spans Inferno, Paradiso and the human world, described by the studio as the Trinity of Realities. PlatinumGames

There has also been loss. Atsuko Tanaka, Bayonetta's Japanese voice actress, died in August 2024 at age 61.

What makes this stand out is the personal link. This is not a simple costume pack. It pairs a studio head thinking aloud about a character's future with a director who credits her as a creative influence and now wants to help draw that future.
