The Batman Part II pauses filming as Matt Reeves attends to family matter

Production on The Batman Part II has paused in London while director Matt Reeves deals with a family matter.
Deadline reported the pause on 5 October. The film is from Warner Bros and DC Studios, and DC Studios said Reeves has its full support and it looks forward to continuing the journey soon.
Filming had been under way in the British capital before the stop. The Hollywood Reporter said cameras started rolling there in June, and noted that Deadline first broke the news of the pause.
Robert Pattinson is back as Batman, with Andy Serkis returning as Alfred and Colin Farrell returning as Penguin, according to Deadline. New faces joining the sequel include Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham and Sebastian Koch.
Reeves co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is scheduled for release on 18 February 2028, Deadline reported.
For fans, this means a short wait with no change yet to the calendar. The date is the latest in a long road for the sequel, which was previously moved from 3 October 2025 to 2 October 2026, Entertainment Weekly reported in March 2024.
The first film, 2022's The Batman, took $770.3 million worldwide, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That film also launched the spin-off television series The Penguin, starring Farrell.
Reeves has stayed close to that wider world. He produced DC's upcoming Clayface movie, centred on the Batman villain, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The pause comes during change behind the camera at the companies. DC chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran are staying on under new ownership of Warner Bros, while film bosses Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy are leaving, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
