'Pass the Salt' Renewed for Season 2 Before Season 1 Airs

Pass the Salt has a second season before its first has even aired.

Panta Mosleh's half-hour comedy was renewed for Season 2 while Season 1 was still waiting to premiere. Development on the new season is already underway, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A renewal, meaning a show is commissioned for another season, would normally follow a debut. Here the order came first. It gives the production an early start on scripts, casting and planning before a single episode has streamed.

Mosleh created, directs and stars in the series. It centres on Parmiss Mansour, a Muslim-Iranian grad student played by Mosleh, who falls in love with Nava, played by Amanda Wear.

Season 1 comes from PK Studio Productions as an OUTtv Original, according to OUTtv. It comprises six 22-minute episodes. That short-episode order is standard for a new comedy finding its audience.

Wear joined the ensemble alongside Adam Fox and Nathaniel Vass. The casting expanded the world around the central couple. All three actors are now confirmed to continue.

Viewers will get the first season across two services in November. Season 1 will premiere on the Hollywood Suite streaming platform on Nov. 1. It will then debut on the OUTtv streamer on Nov. 2 and run to a finale on Dec. 7.

The dates cover a six-episode run from early November into early December. Audiences can watch the whole story play out in a tight five-week span.

The core cast will stay intact for the next chapter. Mosleh, Wear, Fox and Vass will return for Season 2 alongside Valeh Ashraf, Moheb Jindran and Babak Haleky. Keeping seven regulars in place means the show holds on to its central relationship and its wider circle.

There may be more places to watch it soon. Negotiations on international sales are underway, with initial deals expected shortly. Those talks organise licensing, meaning agreements that let broadcasters and platforms outside the home market carry the series, and the release windows when it can air.

For viewers, this means the story does not stop in December. Season 1 will introduce Parmiss and Nava, and Season 2 is already being built to continue from there.
