Prince William was due in Ilminster, Somerset, on Tuesday 6 October 2026 to launch Ready Together, a community preparation project from the National Emergencies Trust, the charity that coordinates national fundraising after emergencies.

Hello Magazine reported the visit would focus on how towns and villages respond to and recover from extreme weather, including flooding and wildfires. Ready Together aims to help neighbours work together before disaster strikes, with practical steps for emergency situations. The idea is simple. Plan together, cope better.

The Somerset stop was scheduled to end at Ilminster Fire Station. There, William was expected to meet representatives of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, the local brigade covering the two counties, to hear how crews and volunteers work with residents during severe weather.

The Independent had earlier listed the fire station as the closing engagement for the 6 October visit. Fire services in the South West have dealt with repeated flood alerts in recent winters and a rise in summer field and heath fires. The visit was billed as a chance to put local experience at the centre.

Elsewhere in the royal diary, Princess Anne was scheduled to be in Norway for a two-day visit. She was travelling as Patron — the honorary role that lends a public profile — of the Anglo-Norwegian Resistance Commemoration Project, which remembers wartime cooperation between Britain and Norway.

The same week brought renewed attention on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Hello Magazine reported he planned to take legal action against Thames Valley Police, with claims that searches of his homes may have breached the law after his arrest in February. No court filing or police response was detailed in the report. The claim remains a reported intention, not a decided case.

What makes this stand out for anyone picking up the story is the practical pitch. This was not a parade or a plaque. It was a checklist visit about sandbags, smoke, phone trees and who knocks on which door.
