Jessica Chastain says Apple made a mistake by postponing her thriller The Savant.

The Oscar winner told Net-a-Porter's Porter in a cover-story interview that she had to go on record saying so, according to Variety. It is a blunt public criticism of the platform behind her own show.

The Savant is an eight-episode limited series, meaning a drama designed to tell one complete story in a single season. Chastain stars as Jodi Goodwin, a veteran, wife and mother who infiltrates online forums where white supremacists gather and sometimes plan domestic terror attacks. She also serves as an executive producer, a senior credit that covers creative and business decisions behind the camera.

The series was created by Melissa James Gibson and adapted from Andrea Stanley's 2019 Cosmopolitan story titled Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens? Apple TV+ describes it as an investigative thriller built around that undercover work.

Apple TV+ had planned a full rollout for the show last autumn. The platform unveiled a first look in July 2025 and then set a global premiere for Friday, 26 September 2025 when it released a trailer in August, as detailed in an Apple TV+ announcement. That launch never happened.

Days before the premiere, Apple pulled The Savant from its schedule after the assassination of Charlie Kirk in September 2025, as noted by Fox News. The company said in a statement: "After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant." It did not set a new date at that time.

Apple TV has now confirmed the series will debut in spring 2027. That window lands about a year and a half after the original September 2025 plan, and after November's midterm elections in the United States.

For viewers, this means a long hold for a completed series. The eight episodes were ready for release. No exact day in spring 2027 has been announced.

Chastain has not said she asked Apple to reverse the decision. She said only that the delay was wrong, and that she wanted that view on the record.
