Eric Stonestreet Returns as Rapunzel in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2
Eric Stonestreet will return as the serial killer called Rapunzel in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.
The casting was revealed at the show's New York Comic Con panel promoting the new season. Season 2 starts on Paramount+ on 30 October, according to Deadline. The update was published on 8 October 2026.
The panel drew a full stage. Stars Michael C. Hall, Uma Thurman, James Remar, Jack Alcott, Bokeem Woodbine and Krysten Ritter appeared with showrunner Clyde Phillips, the writer-producer who leads the creative direction, plus executive producer Scott Reynolds and executive producer and director Marcos Siega. It was a Season 2 showcase at the annual fan gathering in New York.
Fans in the room got more than talk. They watched the Season 2 premiere early at the convention. That kind of advance screening gives a hall of fans a first look before the episodes reach the wider subscription audience.
Stonestreet is an Emmy Award winner best known for the comedy Modern Family. Showtime announced on 10 March 2025 that he would join Dexter: Resurrection, its Showtime original series, as a guest star, meaning a limited appearance rather than a full-season regular, according to Paramount Press Express. The first season then opened with two episodes on Friday, 11 July on Paramount+ with Showtime, the branded home for Showtime programmes on the streaming service. The remaining episodes were released week by week, according to Paramount Press Express.
Season 2 widens the circle of killers. Brian Cox plays a killer with decades of notoriety. Dan Stevens plays a young killer terrorising New York. Paramount said in July 2026 that franchise veterans Erik King and Julie Benz would also feature in Season 2, alongside Season 2 names including Ritter and Stonestreet, according to Paramount Press Express. The new season had been listed as streaming on Paramount+ in 2026.
The path to Season 2 has unfolded in public steps. The March 2025 casting notice came first, then the July 2025 launch plan, then the July 2026 Season 2 casting update with first-look images, then the October 2026 panel reveal.
What makes this stand out is the blend. New killers arrive. Familiar faces stay. For viewers, that means the October return brings both strands together when the new episodes land.
