Paramount+ has dropped the first-look images for season two of Dexter: Resurrection, giving fans their earliest glimpse of where the story heads next. The photos, credited to Matt Infante/Paramount+ and published on 28 July 2026, arrive via The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Deadline.

Michael C. Hall is back as Dexter Morgan. The season two logline, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, puts the character between two killers: "one notorious and the other terrorizing New York in ways no one ever anticipated — all while battling his greatest enemy yet: a mid-life crisis."

Dan Stevens plays the Five Borough Killer. Brian Cox — of Succession fame — plays the New York Ripper, the same figure whose file Dexter discovered at the close of season one in the vault of Leon Prater, played by Peter Dinklage. Both Cox and Stevens join as series regulars, alongside Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson, who plays a character named Fiona, according to Variety.

Jack Alcott returns as Harrison Morgan, Dexter's son. The returning cast also includes Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington, and James Remar. Thurman portrays a character named Charley; TVLine reported on a social media post (date unknown) that Dexter and Charley share an "icy reunion" in the new season. Krysten Ritter returns in a guest-starring role, and Gabriel Luna guests as a character named Ray Ballard, described in the logline as the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger, per Variety.

Clyde Phillips, an Emmy-nominated showrunner, continues as executive producer and showrunner. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios. Executive producers include Hall himself, Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Veronica West, Kirsa Rein, Tanner Bean, and Katrina Mathewson.

Production has moved to Manhattan full-time. Dexter: Resurrection season two is the first major tenant at Sunset Pier 94 Studios, a newly active production facility on Manhattan's west side. Paramount+ confirmed that cameras were rolling in New York City on 22 April 2026, according to a press release. Dan Stevens' casting was announced two weeks earlier, on 14 April 2026, via a separate Paramount press release.

The season two greenlight itself came on 8 October 2025, when Paramount+ confirmed the renewal — a straight-to-series order, meaning no pilot episode was required before the full season entered production.

One note for completists: the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin was not renewed after a single season, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter. The Dexter franchise on Paramount+ now runs through Resurrection alone.

For fans, the new images and the stacked cast — Cox as a serial killer, Stevens as another, Thurman as someone Dexter clearly has history with — signal a season that widens the world well beyond one man's internal monologue.
