Powderfinger to reunite for 2027 Australia concerts

Powderfinger will play across Australia from September 2027, their first concerts in almost two decades.
The band confirmed the reunion on Friday morning, Oct. 9, with a video featuring all five members, Billboard reported. Further details on the run will be announced early on Monday, Oct. 12, local time.
The line-up is intact. Bernard Fanning is on vocals, Ian Haug and Darren Middleton are on guitars, John "JC" Collins is on bass and Jon Coghill is on drums.
The gap has been long. Powderfinger disbanded in 2010 after a final national Sunsets tour that sold more than 200,000 tickets. The 2027 dates will be their first full live run since that farewell.
Their record on the charts explains the response. The group won 18 ARIA Awards, Australia's annual music prizes, and closed their career with five successive No. 1 albums starting with 1998's Internationalist. Their seventh and final studio album was 2009's Golden Rule.
There has been one brief return since the split. In 2020 the five members reunited for the virtual concert One Night Lonely, which raised more than A$500,000 for Support Act and Beyond Blue.
For fans, this means a short wait for the practical points. Cities, venues, dates and ticket sales information are still to come on Monday. The band has so far confirmed only the shape of it: a national run, starting next September.
