Oliver Stark Among Four Hurt in Stunts on 9-1-1 Season 10

Four performers have been hurt in stunt accidents on Season 10 of ABC's 9-1-1, including star Oliver Stark. The injuries happened in recent months during production. Deadline first reported the incidents on 9 October.
Stark broke his ankle in late August while doing his own stunt. The injury required surgery. Production on the series continued, and Stark has since returned to work.
The stunt required a firefighter to swing from a car, clear a set piece and land on a ladder truck. A ladder truck is the long fire engine with an extendable ladder. The move combines height, timing and a hard landing.
Before Stark attempted it, a stunt double sprained an ankle rehearsing the same move. A stunt double is a trained performer who takes on risky action in place of an actor. The double declined medical treatment, and no injury report was submitted to production.
An injury report is the formal notice filed to production when someone is hurt on set. In this case, none was submitted for the double's sprain because treatment was declined. The mechanics of the stunt were then adjusted.
Stark performed the move after that adjustment. He rolled his ankle over another performer in the scene. That fall broke his ankle.
In a separate incident, a stunt performer injured an arm on a set piece with jagged metal. The wound needed a hospital visit and stitches. It did not involve the car-to-truck swing.
Another stunt performer suffered a broken rib and a minor compressed lung. That injury followed an awkward landing on a platform built to simulate a ground collapse. The performer was sent to hospital for treatment.
That accounts for the four injured people: Stark, the double who rehearsed his stunt, and the two performers hurt in the two unrelated stunts. All four cases involved practical stunt work on set.
9-1-1 is produced by 20th Television. A spokesperson for the company declined to comment for the Deadline story. No shutdown of Season 10 production has been reported.
For viewers, this means the disruption has stayed behind the camera. Stark is back at work. Production did not stop. Further detail on the incidents has not been released.
