Nintendo is not saying whether Grand Theft Auto 6 will come to the Switch 2.

Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard was asked about a version for Nintendo's latest console in an interview reported on 10 October 2026. She said the call was "going to be a conversation for Take Two and Rockstar," adding she had "nothing to announce on my end at this time," Video Games Chronicle.

Short answer: no news.

Take-Two is the parent organisation of Rockstar Games, the studio behind Grand Theft Auto, an open-world crime series in which players explore a fictional American city. Pritchard's response leaves the decision with the publisher and developer. Nintendo has listed no version of the game for its own hardware.

As announced, Grand Theft Auto VI is due to launch on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation 5 is Sony's current console. Xbox Series X|S are Microsoft's current machines. Rockstar announced pre-orders for that date on 25 June 2026 Take-Two. The announcement named only those two platforms. Pre-orders are advance purchases made before release day.

The date has moved more than once. Rockstar first said in an announcement published on 4 December 2023 that the game was coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025 Take-Two. Take-Two later said a release previously expected in autumn 2025 was rescheduled to 26 May 2026. That May date was then replaced by the November date. A delay here means the release date moves back, not that the game is cancelled.

Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick said the project was about 18 months behind its original internal target date, in comments reported on 18 May 2026 IGN. A moved date is a production fact on a project of this size, with hundreds of staff and years of work attached.

The knock-on effect is wide. Analysts at Ampere have estimated the delay will cost the wider games industry around US$2.7 billion IGN. That figure reflects spending around a major release, from software sales to hardware bought to play it.

For fans, this means Switch 2 owners are still waiting. Rockstar has confirmed nothing beyond PlayStation and Xbox. Until Take-Two or Rockstar says otherwise, the November launch remains a two-platform affair.
