Baywatch reboot films in Los Angeles ahead of January launch on Fox

Fox's Baywatch reboot is shooting in Los Angeles with Stephen Amell and Noah Beck leading the cast ahead of a launch on Fox next year.
The series comes from Fox and Fremantle, with Matt Nix as showrunner, and is now in production in Los Angeles after also filming in Atlanta, according to Deadline. Fremantle is handling international sales and is taking the show to buyers at MIPCOM Cannes.
Amell plays Hobie Buchannon, the son of Mitch Buchannon, the lifeguard played by David Hasselhoff in the original series. In this version Hobie is now a veteran rescuer himself when his daughter comes back into his life and wants to train as a lifeguard.
Beck plays Luke, a rookie lifeguard, as reported by Variety. Brooks Nader plays Selene, with filming split between Atlanta and Los Angeles, according to Deadline.
The wider lifeguard team includes Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison, Shay Mitchell and Thaddeus J. LaGrone, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Nix also serves as executive producer.
The production secured a $21.1 million tax credit from the California Film Commission late last year, worth 40% of its qualifying spend. That incentive keeps large shoots in the state by refunding part of what they spend locally.
Fox plans to air the reboot in the 2026-2027 broadcast season, meaning the traditional September-to-May network schedule. The company has pointed to a January premiere, with Fremantle confirming a January 2027 debut on Fox.
Outside the United States the show will debut on Prime Video in 2027 under a multi-territory deal announced by Fremantle in August, according to Fremantle. In the UK and Ireland it will launch on Sky and be available exclusively on Sky and NOW, according to Fremantle.
Fox released a first teaser promo in May, followed by four new teasers featuring Amell in October 2026, according to Deadline.
For fans, this means a familiar set-up with a family handover. A new generation is joining the tower while the Buchannon name stays on the beach.
