Robert Pattinson says filming on The Batman Part II will start again within a couple of days, with Steven Soderbergh now helping to finish the shoot. Pattinson made the comments to GamesRadar+ on 26 October 2026.

The pause began in early October. On 5 October, Warner Bros. said director Matt Reeves needed to step back from filming because of a family matter. Production was put on hold while he was away.

Soderbergh stepped in to help with the final stretch of principal photography, the main part of filming when the actors perform the bulk of the story. Pattinson praised the move, calling Soderbergh's help generous, lovely and selfless. He said it was aimed at getting the film to the editing stage in step with Reeves. Variety reported the same comments the same day.

Soderbergh has said his goal is to work with Reeves and his team to shoot material that blends smoothly with footage already in the can. That way, Reeves can finish the film himself.

Reeves has since made clear he has not left the project. In a post on X, he said he remains the director and thanked Soderbergh for helping to finish principal photography. DC Studios co-chief James Gunn posted on Threads that Reeves is still the director of The Batman 2 and always will be. Gunn also thanked Soderbergh for offering to help complete Reeves's vision.

The film is dated for release on 18 February 2028, according to Variety. The cast includes Pattinson, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. Colin Farrell plays the Penguin.

For a film in its last weeks of shooting, a short pause and a director swap for the final stretch is a common way to keep a release date. The studio has not changed the February 2028 date. Any change to the schedule would be announced by Warner Bros.
