The red suits are back on the sand. Fox has released the first full trailer for its Baywatch reboot, which is set to premiere on the network in January, as reported by Variety.

Stephen Amell leads the new team as a grown-up Hobie Buchannon. Hobie is now a Baywatch captain, following in the footsteps of his father Mitch. Jessica Belkin stars opposite him as Charlie, the daughter Hobie never knew he had.

Amell and Belkin head a large ensemble. Shay Mitchell, Brooks Nader, Hassie Harrison, Livvy Dunne, Noah Beck, David Chokachi and Thaddeus LaGrone all hold starring roles alongside them. The line-up mixes established actors with newcomers, and the trailer puts that new lifeguard team front and centre.

The wider beach is filling out too. Ashley Moore, Luke Eisner, Nadia Gray, Kylar Miranda and Charlie McElveen will appear in recurring roles, meaning they turn up across multiple episodes rather than every week as regulars. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion will also make an appearance.

The path to the sand has been a long one. Fox picked up the reboot in September 2025 for the 2026-2027 broadcast season, the September-to-May window when the US networks roll out their main slates, with a 12-episode order. That order sent the show straight to series, meaning no trial pilot was shot first. Fox then held an open casting call in early 2026 before production began in Los Angeles in the spring.

The trailer follows four short character-profile teasers Fox released earlier in October, as reported by Yahoo. Those clips introduced individual members of the new crew. The full trailer brings them together for the first time.

Behind the camera, Matt Nix is showrunner, the writer-producer in day-to-day charge of a series, and executive producer alongside McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz. McG directed the premiere episode, which sets the look and pace for what follows. The series is co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, the production and distribution group behind many unscripted and scripted formats.

The original Baywatch debuted in 1989 and became one of the most recognisable beach dramas in the world. For viewers who remember it, this version keeps the family link close. Hobie grew up on the beach. Now he runs it.
