Designer Sergio Hudson is making his first collection made only for children, with OshKosh B'gosh, the children's clothing brand. The OshKosh B'gosh x Sergio Hudson range goes on sale in shops and online on Oct. 22, WWD reported.

The launch details were published on Oct. 14. It is Hudson's first kids-exclusive collection. It is also a first for OshKosh as a business move.

The collection covers sizes from 12 months to 14 years old. That spans babies, small children and young teenagers in one range. There are 13 styles for each age group. Prices run from $22 to $45.

The designs mix OshKosh signatures with Hudson details. Denim, the sturdy cotton twill used for jeans and overalls, sits beside hickory stripe, the blue-and-white workwear stripe. Both are reworked with Hudson's cuts and trims. The result keeps the workwear roots but gives them a different line.

Safari and utility ideas run through the clothes. Cargo pockets add room for small finds. Adjustable inner waists let trousers and skirts expand or tighten at the waist. The features point to play, movement and longer wear.

Many pieces are gender-neutral, cut to be worn by any child. That approach is new for OshKosh. It means the same item is offered without a separate boys' or girls' version. For families, it widens the choice and makes hand-me-downs simple.

In business terms, the range is a designer collaboration, a limited collection made with an outside designer. It is OshKosh's first such collaboration sold only in its own shops and on oshkosh.com. It will run for one season only.

It will be sold in 18 stores across New York, South Carolina, California, Florida and Georgia, and online for a limited time. The tight store list makes it a focused drop rather than a chain-wide rollout. Online sale carries it beyond those five states for that limited period.

Hudson was introduced to OshKosh through Harlem's Fashion Row, the New York organisation that connects designers with brands. Photographer Billy Kidd shot the advertising campaign. The images feature 14 children wearing the collection.

What makes this stand out is the practical test. Strong fabrics, roomy pockets and waists that adjust suit climbing, running and school days. Cuts that any child can wear suit sharing between siblings. That is a small shift in how the brand sells, but one parents will notice at the till.
