Jamie Foxx Joins Indie Thriller East of the River as Producer

Jamie Foxx has joined the indie crime thriller East of the River as a producer, coming aboard through his Foxxhole Productions alongside Alex Marks, Variety reported on 14 October 2026.
A producer helps guide a film from script to screen, on creative choices and on money. Indie, in this context, means made outside the major studios. Foxx has boarded after the shoot.
The story follows two estranged brothers who reunite to confront the organised underground poker ring that destroyed their family. The hook is simple. Blood against the house. The film is directed by Dennis Latos, working from a screenplay by Elise Finnerty with story by Jim Tamburino, according to Variety.
The announced cast is led by Ben Barnes, Ben Ahlers, Callie Hernandez and Maria Sten. Four leads carry the ensemble. No character breakdowns were published with the producing announcement, which keeps the focus on the brothers at the centre of the plot as described.
Behind the camera, the producing team is Nicolas Alvo at Ruta 5 Films and Benjamin Wiessner at Vanishing Angle, alongside Latos and Finnerty. Executive producers are David Schuster, Steven Gregory, John Harms, Gerry Ambrose and Corinne Foxx. The film is presented by Gloves Up Entertainment in association with Echo Bend Productions, a credit that signals the companies that backed or organised the production.
Post-production recently wrapped. That is the stage after filming when editing, sound, music and colour are finalised. Filming is finished. Global distribution rights, the licences that cinemas, broadcasters and streamers need to show a film, are available through CAA Media Finance, according to Variety. In plain terms, the finished film is now on the market for buyers around the world.
For fans, this means Foxx is backing the film rather than starring in it. His producing credit sits alongside a young ensemble and a small team of independent producers. The next piece of public business will be a distribution deal, which will decide where and when audiences can see it.
