Banana Republic and Henry Zankov launch 27-piece capsule

Banana Republic, the American clothing retailer, has co-created a limited-edition capsule collection, a small range made for a short run, with designer Henry Zankov.
The line totals 27 pieces across men's and women's clothing and accessories, WWD reported. That number covers apparel plus add-ons. It keeps the offer focused rather than a full seasonal wardrobe.
Prices run from $90 to $600. The collection is available at BananaRepublic.com and in select Banana Republic stores. In industry terms that is direct-to-consumer, selling direct to shoppers rather than through outside wholesale stockists.
Fabric is the starting point. The range uses brushed cashmere, a goat fibre finished for softness, alongside proprietary wool yarns, yarns developed to a specific order rather than bought off the shelf. Those yarns allow control over weight, hand feel and colour. The mix points to knitwear as the core skill in the project.
The range also uses leathers and engineered plaids. Engineered plaids are patterns laid out to fit the shape of each garment, rather than cut from repeating cloth. That method keeps checks and lines aligned at seams and edges. It costs more in planning and cutting, which is why it is often reserved for limited runs.
Two knits show the approach. The Auden sweater is made in brushed cashmere and offered in vivid stripes and solid colours. The Sasha cardigan is made in brushed cashmere in navy. Both are cut as easy layers. Both can be worn open, closed or over a shirt.
A campaign titled Future Heirlooms introduces the collaboration. A campaign here means the photographs and film used to present the clothes online and in store. Chief marketing officer Meena Anvary said the work brought together two distinct points of view grounded in heritage, craftsmanship and creativity.
What makes this stand out for shoppers is access. A designer-led knitwear range often sells in small quantities through a studio and a handful of shops. Here the same design input sits inside a national store network with online distribution. The price structure reflects that reach.
The span from $90 to $600 gives a wide entry. Shoppers can enter at accessory level. The top of the range aligns with cashmere and leather, fibres and skins that cost more to source and process. No further price breakdown has been disclosed.
The drop is limited by design. Once sizes and styles sell through, the collection ends. No restock has been announced.
