Christian Slater, Dree Hemingway and Trine Dyrholm will star in Incidents of Intimacy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be the second arthouse feature in producer Zentropa's Dogma25 slate. That puts a Hollywood name alongside two leading women in a small-scale Danish production.

Jasper Just will direct. It is his first feature. He co-wrote the script with Sissel Dalsgaard Thomsen. The supporting cast adds Johannes Lilleøre, Julie Agnete Vang, Laura Drasbæk and Michael Moritzen.

Dyrholm plays Linda, an intimacy coordinator who finds it hard to form intimate ties in her own life. An intimacy coordinator plans and looks after sex scenes and nudity on set. The job grew up in the last decade as studios and crews tightened rules around consent. Here it moves from behind the camera to the heart of the plot.

For Slater, the film is a return to Danish cinema after co-starring in Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac. He lines up beside Hemingway and Dyrholm in the central trio. Just arrives from the art world. He worked as a visual artist and represented Denmark at the 2013 Venice Biennale, the large international art exhibition in Venice.

Dogma25 is a collective of film-makers, as outlined by The Hollywood Reporter. The group has set out a manifesto with 10 vows of chastity, or self-imposed rules for shooting. Zentropa is backing the slate. An arthouse feature in this context means a low-budget film aimed at cinemas and festivals rather than a broad commercial release.

What makes this stand out is the job at its centre. Intimacy coordinators are now a familiar credit, yet rarely the focus of the story itself. Putting one in the lead flips the lens. The audience watches the person usually watching out for others.

Just brings a gallery eye to his first shoot. Moving from still and video art to a full cast is a jump. Directing a feature means guiding actors and crew across a weeks-long shoot. Co-writing with Thomsen keeps him close to that shift from image to dialogue.

The announcement sets the cast for Just's debut. No release date has been disclosed in the trade report.
