Bad Fairies adds Kylie Minogue, Jonathan Groff and Catherine Tate to voice cast

Kylie Minogue, Jonathan Groff and Catherine Tate have joined the voice cast of Bad Fairies.
The animated musical comedy comes from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Locksmith Animation, and the new additions were reported by Variety. Voice cast means the actors will not appear on screen. They provide the speaking and singing voices for animated characters.
Minogue will voice Clowder, the Cat Witch. Groff will play Robin Goodfellow. Tate takes the role of the Fairy Gothmother.
They join Cynthia Erivo, who voices Jayne Staplegun and leads the film. Erivo announced the new casting herself at her Hollywood Bowl concert, titled Let Me Sing to You.
The story is centred on contemporary London. It follows a group of misbehaving fairies who find themselves out of step with the modern city.
The film is directed by Megan Nicole Dong and co-directed by Olivier Staphylas. The screenplay is by Deborah Frances-White.
Music will be central to the production. Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the writers behind the stage hit Six, are writing original songs. The score is by Isabella Summers, with Ian Eisendrath serving as executive music producer.
The wider cast is already taking shape. Serrana Su-Ling Bliss voices Fei Chang, with James Acaster as Stickers. Dee Bradley Baker plays Groundbeef, and Ncuti Gatwa voices Butterwort.
Production is now underway in London, with DNEG Animation as the digital partner. That means the London-based company is handling the animation work that turns voices, designs and songs into finished footage.
Bad Fairies is set to open on May 27, 2027, according to Variety. That date places it in the busy early summer corridor, when studios release family films for school holidays.
For fans, this means the lineup is now much clearer. A pop star, a Broadway regular and a comedy favourite join a lead already known for singing, in a London-set musical built for the big screen.
