Swedish House Mafia and Lykke Li reach No. 1 on Dance Airplay

Swedish House Mafia are back at No. 1 on Billboard's Dance Airplay chart with "Happiness Is So Sad" featuring Lykke Li.
The single climbs from No. 4 to the top of the chart dated Oct. 24, which was scheduled to update on Billboard.com on Oct. 20. Dance Airplay measures plays on dance-format radio stations in the United States. Billboard reported the move on Oct. 19.
The climb follows a sharp lift in airplay. The track increased 28% in plays at the format in the Oct. 2-8 tracking week, according to Luminate, the data company that feeds Billboard's charts. It was released on July 30 via DANSA, the group's own independent label.
It is the fourth Dance Airplay No. 1 for Swedish House Mafia, the Swedish trio of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. Their chart history at the format stretches back more than a decade.
The group first topped the listing with "Save the World" for seven weeks in 2011. They followed it with "Don't You Worry Child" featuring John Martin, which led for 16 weeks in 2012-2013. Their most recent leader before this week was "Wait So Long," which spent one week at No. 1 in 2025.
"Happiness Is So Sad" was the group's 15th career entry on Dance Airplay when it debuted in August. It is also the first No. 1 at the format for DANSA.
The song is performing strongly outside the United States as well. It has now spent seven consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the WARM Global Dance Radio chart, which tracks dance plays on radio worldwide.
What makes this stand out is what it means for the guest vocalist. The No. 1 gives Lykke Li her first leader on any US Billboard chart.
For fans, this means the collaboration now sits alongside the group's longest-running dance radio hits. The trio built their name on large festival sets and radio records in the early 2010s, then returned to regular chart activity in recent years.
