Camila Mendes to return for Upgraded 2 at Amazon MGM Studios

Camila Mendes will return to star in Upgraded 2 for Amazon MGM Studios, with production set to begin in Italy.
The sequel was reported by The Hollywood Reporter on 19 October 2026. It follows the 2024 romantic comedy Upgraded. Italy is the next stop.
Becca Gleason will direct from a script by Luke Roberts and Justin Matthews, according to the same report. Mendes will also produce alongside Rachel Matthews for Honor Role, their production company. A producer helps guide a film from script to screen, creatively and logistically.
Gulfstream Pictures and Honor Role are producing the film. Mike Karz and Bill Bindley are producing for Gulfstream Pictures. Lena Roklin is producing for Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Piers Tempest for Tempo Production.
The film will be available worldwide on Prime Video. That is Amazon MGM Studios' streaming service, which releases films directly to subscribers around the world. No cinema release was announced in the report.
The story picks up from Upgraded, directed by Carlson Young, which launched on Prime Video in February 2024. Mendes played Ana, an ambitious intern dreaming of a career in the art world, according to Amazon MGM Studios' synopsis. Marisa Tomei played Claire, Ana's demanding boss.
In that first film, a last-minute work trip to London changes Ana's plans when she meets a handsome stranger, according to Amazon MGM Studios. Archie Renaux co-led the cast opposite Mendes in the original, Deadline reported when the pairing was cast in 2022. The project was developed in part by Mendes and Matthews.
For fans, this means a familiar face on both sides of the camera. Mendes helped develop the first film and now takes a formal producing credit on the second. The creative team is new, with Gleason directing and Roberts and Matthews writing. The setting moves the action to Italy.
