Patrick Dempsey has a new team behind his career.

The actor has signed with Gersh for representation, reported Variety on 20 October 2026. Representation means the firm handles his deals for acting and producing work. He continues to work with attorney Mitch Smelkinson.

The signing comes while cameras are rolling on his current show. Dempsey stars in and executive produces Memory of a Killer, a Fox drama series that streams on Hulu. An executive producer helps guide a series behind the camera as well as appear in it.

Season 2 is now in production in Toronto. Filming is expected to wrap at the end of the year. The story centres on hitman Angelo Ledda, played by Dempsey, who leads a dangerous double life, as reported by Variety.

He is joined on the Fox drama by Michael Imperioli, who stars alongside him, according to Variety.

Most viewers still know Dempsey as Dr Derek Shepherd, aka McDreamy, from ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. He appeared in 262 episodes across 12 seasons. That run brought two Golden Globe nominations and a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. He left midway through Season 11 in 2014 and returned for episodes in Season 17 six years later.

His later screen work has moved between film and television. He played the romantic lead opposite Amy Adams in 2007’s Enchanted and returned for the 2022 sequel Disenchanted. He also starred in Michael Mann’s Ferrari opposite Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz, and in Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving.

On television, he starred as Captain Aaron Spencer in Dexter: Original Sin. His other credits include Devils and The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair. In 2023, he was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive.

Gersh is based in Beverly Hills, California. The agency was founded in 1949 by Phil Gersh and describes itself as the fourth largest talent and literary agency in the world.

For fans, this means little changes on screen. A new agency handles the contracts. The work stays the same. The fan favourite keeps leading a network drama while a second season takes shape in Canada.
