All eight episodes of Netflix's The Diplomat Season 4 arrived on Oct. 15, closing with a G7 summit, a new British prime minister and a White House under strain.

The season was released in full on Netflix, meaning viewers could watch every episode at once, according to TV Insider. It is the latest run of the political drama led by Keri Russell as the American ambassador to the U.K.

Russell stars opposite Allison Janney as U.S. President Grace Penn. Bradley Whitford plays First Gentleman Todd Penn. Ato Essandoh plays Stuart, the deputy chief of mission at the London embassy.

The new season builds on a major reset. Season 2 ended with the president's death, which cleared the way for Janney's Penn to take office, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In Season 4, Penn is recovering from an early-season assassination attempt. She orders U.S. warships to keep Russian vessels out of U.K. waters and threatens to fire on any Russian or British ships that stand in the way. The stakes are personal and global.

Across the Atlantic, British politics turns over. U.K. Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge, played by Rory Kinnear, resigns. Jodie Whittaker joins as the U.K.'s new prime minister, according to Netflix Tudum. The final episode brings world leaders together for the G7 summit, the annual meeting of seven major democracies.

Inside the embassy, loyalty fractures. Todd Penn serves as special envoy to the U.K. Stuart is recalled after he files disagreement with Penn's plans through a State Department dissent-channel cable, a formal memo diplomats can use to challenge policy. In the finale, Stuart prepares to leave London while Eidra decides to stay put, according to Netflix Tudum.

Series creator and showrunner Debora Cahn, the person in overall charge of the story, told The Hollywood Reporter the Season 4 storylines were crafted to reflect authoritarian behaviour by leaders of Western democracies and what current diplomats face. Cahn also walked through the finale and other key moments with TV Insider.

For fans, this means a clean entry point and a busy exit. Start with the ambassador and the president. End with warships, a resignation and a summit table with no easy seats.
