CD Projekt Red has detailed a large update for Cyberpunk 2077 that adds cross-platform mod support and a new story quest linked to the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The studio outlined the changes in a RedStreams livestream on 21 October 2026.

The update, called Edgerunners 2 Update or version 2.5, arrives on 22 October on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. CDPR media manager Laura Beitzel said the Nintendo Switch 2 version would follow "in a couple of days," according to Eurogamer.

The biggest story thread is a quest tied to the anime. Pawel Sasko, associate game director at CDPR, said the quest was written with people involved in the Netflix show. Publishing producer Natalia Pych described it as a prequel to Edgerunners 2, calling it "the last job of the King's team." Players meet three characters there: Emily, Meshuga and Miguel.

The official patch notes list a separate side quest called Clampdown, also set before the events of Edgerunners 2. Players unlock it by completing the mission The Heist and two gigs for a character named Wakako, then waiting for her to message them. It comes with a five-piece gear set based on the character King.

Mod support is a partnership with Mod.io, a platform that hosts player-made changes to games. An in-game panel lets players browse and install mods, including adult mods. More will be added over time.

Other additions cover a wide range of play:

  • Combat: a new skill for dual-wielding pistols and revolvers.
  • Cyberware: five new "glam docs" around Night City, each with a shop that offers visual upgrades to colour implants.
  • Night City Tours: a new quest type with less action and more mystery, in which founder Richard Night narrates the city's history.
  • Music: an Edgerunners radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, with 16 tracks from the first two series.
  • Collectibles: minor tarot arcana to find in the game, released alongside a physical tarot deck that goes on sale.
  • Clothing: five outfit sets sold by vendors in different districts, with one more set to follow.

On the technical side, the update adds a field of vision slider and support for DLSS 4.5, Nvidia's AI technology that boosts frame rates. Mac players get metal frame interpolation, which creates extra frames, and denoising, which cleans up grainy images.

For players who want the full walkthrough, CDPR's RedStreams broadcast was scheduled for 5 PM CEST on 21 October. The update itself lands the next day.
