Rapper 50 Cent said on Instagram on Tuesday, Oct. 20, that he is sending attorney Drew Findling to help get Don Roberts out of jail. Roberts, 20, is charged with assaulting William Roberts III, the 21-year-old son of rapper Rick Ross, according to Billboard.

Roberts faces two felony charges: aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Felonies are the more serious class of criminal charge in the United States. Roberts has pleaded not guilty, and a court hearing is set for Wednesday, Oct. 21. Billboard reported that he had not been released from Volusia County jail.

The alleged incident took place on Oct. 11 near Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. WFTV reported that William Roberts III says the man pistol-whipped him and threatened to kill him. According to NBC Miami, which cited the arrest report, the man allegedly said, "I don't care who your daddy is, I'll kill you right here." Billboard reported that the man approached him angry over a past romantic involvement with a woman.

Police arrested Roberts on Oct. 16, after William Roberts III identified him in a lineup. Roberts is not related to Rick Ross, according to Billboard.

The post from 50 Cent read: "I got him he will be out tomorrow I'm sending @drewfindling." He described the matter as a big misunderstanding that can easily be resolved. Complex reported that the rapper joked he planned to bail out the suspect. Bail is money or a promise paid to a court so that a person can leave jail while the case moves forward. Posting bail does not decide whether someone is guilty.

Ross' attorneys said Roberts is innocent. Separately, Billboard reported that Ross was arrested on Oct. 1 on domestic battery charges. Those charges are a different matter from the case involving his son.

At this stage, the charges against Roberts are allegations, and no court has found him guilty. The hearing on Wednesday is the next scheduled step in the case.
