50 Cent Sues Rick Ross's Ex Over Posts About His Teenage Son

Rapper 50 Cent has sued a former girlfriend of fellow rapper Rick Ross, accusing her of defamation over social media posts about his 14-year-old son. The federal lawsuit was filed on Monday, 26 October, in Los Angeles federal court, and Billboard was first to report it.
The former girlfriend is Tiallondra "Tia" Kemp. The son is identified only by the initials S.J. in the filing, because he is a minor. The lawsuit says Kemp made posts claiming the boy had autism because of conduct by his mother, Daphne Joy, during her pregnancy.
Defamation is a legal claim that someone has published false statements that damage a person's reputation. The California suit also accuses Kemp of invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress, a claim that someone's conduct was so severe it caused serious emotional harm. Each is an accusation made in a court filing. None has been tested before a judge or jury.
50 Cent, whose legal name is Curtis Jackson, filed the case on his son's behalf. It seeks at least $6 million in damages, which is money a court could order paid to the plaintiff, in US dollars.
The same day, a separate case was filed in a Florida court. That case accuses Kemp of cyberstalking and harassing the boy, which is repeated unwanted contact or pursuit carried out online or in person. It also asks for a restraining order, a court order that would bar a person from making contact. TMZ first reported the Florida case. The California lawsuit builds on it.
The two filings show a dispute that has moved from social media into the courts. For the boy, it means his name and private health matters are now part of public court records, which is why the California filing uses only his initials. Both cases are at an early stage, and the claims are the plaintiff's allegations.
