Prime Video's Carrie was the top streaming title in the United States for the week of October 5 to 11, 2026, and the platform has already renewed it for a second season. A renewal is a new order for more episodes, so the show will keep going after its first run.

The eight-episode first season premiered on October 7. In its weekly streaming ratings, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Carrie drew 1.26 billion viewing minutes that week. A viewing minute is one minute of a show watched by one viewer, so a single hour-long episode watched by one person adds 60.

The show is a present-day update of Stephen King's novel. Mike Flanagan, its showrunner, also writes, directs and executive produces it. His earlier series include Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House. Prime Video has described the series as a fresh and unexpected reimagining of the story.

Netflix's Below, starring Josh Hartnett, came second with 1.19 billion viewing minutes. East of Eden was third with 1.16 billion, up 49 percent from the week before. Ted Lasso drew 943 million minutes, its highest weekly total in six weeks, with its season four finale airing on October 7.

In films, Netflix's Animals, starring Ben Affleck, premiered on October 9 and led the movie top 10 with 719 million viewing minutes for the same week.

These figures come from Nielsen, the audience-measurement company. Nielsen's streaming numbers count viewing on TV sets in the United States only. Phones, tablets and computers are not included. Nielsen estimates the totals from a subset of households with streaming meters, devices that record what is played on the TV, within its national TV panel.

That means the numbers measure a particular slice of viewing. They do not capture every person who watched on a phone or laptop. For the week of October 5 to 11, though, they put Carrie at the top of the chart.

For the people who make the show, the renewal is the part that carries most weight. A second season means more episodes to write, shoot and edit, and more work for cast and crew. Prime Video has not, in the material reviewed here, given a date for when the new season will arrive.
