Prime Video has set an October 7, 2026 release date for its Carrie series, revealing the first teaser trailer and cast photos during a Saturday panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The eight-episode series is the first television adaptation of Stephen King's debut novel, originally published in 1974. Mike Flanagan, the creator behind the project, made his Comic-Con debut with the panel. Deadline

Flanagan has described Brian De Palma's 1976 film, starring Sissy Spacek, as "iconic" and "untouchable," and said there is no reason to try to follow in those footsteps. Instead, the series charts its own path. The cast warned during the panel that there are "many surprises in store" beyond what readers will find in King's novel.

Summer H. Howell leads as Carrie White, a role she landed after being chosen from more than a thousand auditions. Samantha Sloyan plays Margaret White, Carrie's fiercely protective and overtly religious mother. Alison Thornton takes on Chris Hargensen, the mean girl at the centre of Carrie's torment.

Flanagan told the Comic-Con audience that he invited several high schoolers into the writers' room to share their real-life experiences, helping shape the show's narrative. The series will address modern teen issues that did not exist when King wrote the book in the 1970s: active shooter drills, social media cruelty, and the way mistakes live on forever online. King's novel was rooted in bullying and adolescent isolation. The adaptation updates those themes for a generation whose cruelty plays out on screens as much as in hallways.

The premiere date falls on a Wednesday. Cadillac News First look photos were revealed alongside the teaser trailer at the same panel. All eight episodes arrive on Prime Video on October 7.
