Laysla De Oliveira and Riccardo Scamarcio Finish Filming Sci-Fi Thriller Telephone

Laysla De Oliveira and Riccardo Scamarcio have wrapped filming on Telephone, an independent science-fiction thriller, Deadline reported on 22 October 2026.
"Independent" means the film was financed outside the big studio system. It was shot in Sudbury, Ontario, and directed by Anthony Scott Burns, who has previously made the indie features Come True and Our House.
The story follows Sandy, who is abducted by mysterious neighbours. She is told she must travel back in time to save the future. Jack Stanley wrote the script, and Burns revised it.
The cast also includes Rohan Campbell, Tenika Davis and Michael Greyeyes. Jason Ross Jallet, Andrew Bronfman, Jonathan Bronfman and Benoit Roland are producers. Gale Anne Hurd, Todd Brown, Jack Stanley and Phillip Kobylanski are executive producers, the people who usually arrange the money and the deals behind the scenes.
The film comes from three production companies: Valhalla Entertainment, Beyond the Frame and 10.80 Films. A production company is the outfit that organises the shoot day to day, and several companies often share the load on a film of this size.
De Oliveira's profile is rising on television. She stars opposite Zoe Saldaña in Taylor Sheridan's series Lioness. Scamarcio, the Italian actor, took the Best Actor prize in the Orizzonti sidebar at the Venice Film Festival for I Figli Della Scimmia (Children of the Monkey). Orizzonti is the Venice section devoted to newer and more adventurous films.
Wrapping means the cameras have stopped. The footage now moves into post-production, the stage where editors cut the picture, sound is mixed and visual effects are added. Films shot in Canada often pass through the same crews and studios as American productions, and Sudbury's location work is part of that wider pattern.
For now, the news is simple. The shoot is over, and the film is one step closer to a screen.
