Leslie Bibb Set to Star in Upgraded 2 Opposite Camila Mendes

Leslie Bibb is set to star in Upgraded 2, the follow-up to the romantic comedy Upgraded, opposite Camila Mendes, according to Deadline.

Mendes is returning from the first film, and she is also a producer on the sequel. She produces through Honor Role, the company she runs with Rachel Matthews. The other producers named in the report are Mike Karz and Bill Bindley for Gulfstream Pictures, Lena Roklin for Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Piers Tempest for Tempo Production.

Becca Gleason is directing. Luke Roberts and Justin Matthews wrote the screenplay, and they also wrote the original Upgraded. That film came out on Prime Video in 2024, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Production was scheduled to begin in Italy in October 2026. Shooting dates and locations can move.

Amazon MGM Studios has picked up worldwide distribution rights for the sequel. Distribution rights are the permission to sell and show a film in each market, and in this case they cover the whole world. Deadline reports that Upgraded 2 will be available on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. Prime Video is Amazon's streaming service, and it is also where the first film appeared.

That pattern is the notable part. The first film was a streaming release, and the sequel is headed for the same service, now across a much wider footprint. Anyone who watched the original will know the cast and creative team returning. Everyone else can start with the first film, which is already on the same service.

Bibb and Mendes are the two names attached so far. Casting announcements often arrive in stages, so more names may follow as filming approaches.
