Yung Miami's debut solo album, Watch Dis, arrived on Friday, 23 October. In the same week, she used a radio appearance to say that Drake had not replied to her request for a verse on the "Spend Dat" remix.

Speaking on Hot 97, the New York radio station, she said she had messaged Drake asking him to join the song. He left her on read, a phrase meaning he saw the message and did not answer. "Drake, what did I do?" she said, adding that she loves him. Billboard reported the comments, and HotNewHipHop also carried her remarks.

The two have worked together before. In 2018, Drake featured Yung Miami and fellow City Girls member JT on "In My Feelings", from his album Scorpion. That song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the weekly chart that ranks the most popular songs in the United States.

Yung Miami also said she had messaged Drake about "Take Me to Chanel", a track from her debut, which features Quavo and G Herbo. Drake did not appear on that song either.

The "Spend Dat" remix went out with Kodak Black and Lil Baby instead. Yung Miami also recruited Vybz Kartel and Shenseea for an international version of the remix. The remix peaked at No. 17 on the Hot 100, meaning that was its highest position on the chart.

Watch Dis includes guest appearances from Rick Ross, Travis Scott and Bryson Tiller. Its tracklist shows how a debut album is built: a mix of guests, with some invitations accepted and others left open.

For a general listener, the episode is a reminder of how features get made. A guest verse depends on schedules, label approvals and a reply, and a request can go unanswered. Yung Miami's comments describe her side of the exchange.
