Demi Lovato was taken to hospital on Tuesday, 27 October, for what appeared to be an allergic reaction, and has since said she is fine. People reported that the visit was brief.

Lovato shared an Instagram Story photo of herself receiving treatment, with an IV in her arm and a hospital bracelet on her wrist. In a post she later deleted, she wrote: "Soooooo i'm either allergic to passionfruit or sushi now." A follow-up, also since deleted, said "I'm fine." Parade reported that she did not give further details beyond those posts.

E! News described the stay as a brief hospitalisation over a possible allergic reaction. TMZ reported that she was discharged quickly. Billboard, which credited People for the photo, also noted the posts.

Allergies have come up before in Lovato's public life. In 2009, while filming the Disney Channel series Sonny With a Chance, she had a reaction she believed was caused by an ingredient in egg salad. She has also said she is badly allergic to pets, including cats and dogs.

Her most recent album, the dance-pop record It's Not That Deep, came out in October 2025. It peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200, the US chart that ranks albums by sales and streams.

For anyone with a food allergy, the episode is a reminder that a reaction can start suddenly and with no clear cause. Lovato has not named a specific trigger. Her passionfruit and sushi guess is just that, a guess she posted and then removed.
