Tate McRae's "Housewife" Reaches No. 1 on Billboard's Streaming Songs Chart

Tate McRae's "Housewife" has reached No. 1 on Billboard's Streaming Songs chart dated Oct. 31. It is her first No. 1 on that chart as a lead act, the singer whose name comes first in the credits. Billboard reported the result on Oct. 29, 2026.

The Streaming Songs chart ranks the most-played songs on on-demand services in the United States. According to Luminate, the company that tracks music listening for Billboard, "Housewife" earned 22.9 million U.S. chart-eligible streams in the week ending Oct. 22. Chart-eligible means the plays that count toward the ranking.

McRae has been near the top of this chart before. She was the featured artist on Morgan Wallen's "What I Want," which spent six weeks at No. 1 in 2025. Her best previous result as a lead act was "Tit for Tat," which peaked at No. 2 that year. Her climb began in 2020, when "You Broke Me First" reached No. 29. Her first top 10 came in 2023 with "Greedy," which peaked at No. 6.

"Housewife" also debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, the main singles chart, which combines streaming, radio airplay and sales. It is the highest-charting song of McRae's career as a lead act, ahead of the No. 3 peaks of "Greedy" and "Tit for Tat." Her only Hot 100 No. 1 remains "What I Want," the Wallen collaboration.

Internationally, Billboard reported on Oct. 26 that "Housewife" debuted at No. 1 on its global charts, with 55.9 million streams worldwide in its debut week. The song sold 6,000 copies globally in the Oct. 16 to 22 tracking week, according to Luminate. Spotify's charts also picked it up early, with the song opening at No. 1 on its global chart for Oct. 16 with 5.67 million streams, and at No. 1 on its U.S. chart for the same date.

In Australia, the song debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. It is McRae's first ARIA No. 1 and her sixth top 10 entry on that chart.

"Housewife" is expected to be the lead single from McRae's fourth studio album. No release date has been announced. Her previous album, So Close to What, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart in the issue dated March 8, 2025. It has earned 2.8 million equivalent album units to date, a measure that converts songs and albums played on streaming services into album sales.

The new No. 1 arrives after a long run at the top of the same chart. Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" logged its 26th week at No. 1 on the Oct. 24 ranking. That ties Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" for the most weeks at No. 1 in the chart's 13-year history. On the latest Streaming Songs chart, "Choosin' Texas" sits at No. 4 with 20 million streams, up 1%.

Chart positions are counted in streams, but each one is a listener pressing play. Those plays now add up to the first No. 1 for McRae as the lead name on a song.
