Prime Video has greenlit a second season of Carrie, meaning the streamer has given the go-ahead to make more episodes. The news came from showrunner Mike Flanagan, who spoke to Deadline in an interview published on 2 November 2026.

The series is a new take on Stephen King's 1974 novel about a bullied teenager with telekinetic powers. Summer H. Howell plays the title role. The show is made by Red Room Pictures, Reunion Pacific Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios.

It arrived on 7 October. In the week of that premiere, it was Prime Video's top show, according to the same Deadline report. Between 5 and 11 October, it was the top streaming title in the United States.

Flanagan has been candid about how the project came together. He told Reuters in early October that he never expected to return to Carrie. A few days later, in an interview with The Playlist, he discussed a possible three-season arc for the story. That is an idea he described, not a confirmed plan, and no episode count for Season 2 has been announced.

Flanagan is also busy elsewhere. In the Deadline interview he said his work on the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 series has been "the time of my life." He is not the only creator with a full slate, but his name now sits on two big projects at once.

For the people behind the show, a renewal is the difference between a finished story and a story left half told. A second season means another round of writers, actors, set builders and editors getting work. Those jobs only exist once a platform says yes, and that is what happened here.

Season 2 has no release date yet. Prime Video's next steps, and the timing of any new episodes, will be announced by the platform or the production companies involved.
