Dominic West, John Cleese and Portia de Rossi have joined the cast of "The Reception," an ensemble comedy directed by Trudie Styler, according to Variety.

The story is set on a grand Scottish estate. A wedding party goes ahead anyway, even though the bride and groom are not there. Jeff Daniels is also in the cast. Variety lists more names alongside them: Bronson Pinchot, Nicolas Maury, Alyth Ross, Eliot Sumner, Lewis Fleming, Will Merrick, Barbara Marten and Daniel Quincy Annoh.

The script is by Tom Stourton and Tom Palmer. Styler produces with Celine Rattray and Piers Tempest, and Peter Chiarelli and Fred Fernandez-Armesto are executive producers. It is Styler's fourth feature as a director.

The film is also moving into the business side of the industry. Beta Cinema is launching international sales on "The Reception" at the American Film Market, a deal-making event in November where sales companies offer films to distributors in other countries. Sales companies try to sell a film territory by territory before it is finished, so buyers can plan ahead. CAA, the talent agency, is representing the film's domestic rights, which means the right to sell it in the United States and Canada.

For readers who like to know who is behind a film, the mix is worth noting. A stage-trained cast of familiar faces sits next to a small group of producers and writers. Each name on the list was chosen by someone, and each choice has to be agreed to by the people paying for the film.

The next steps will show how the deals take shape. Sales and rights agreements are often announced in the weeks around a market, so the coming months may bring more news on where the film will be shown.
