Mekhi Phifer leads the cast of Future Tense, a science fiction film that has finished shooting in Arizona, according to Deadline on Tuesday, 3 November.

Katee Sackhoff co-stars alongside him. Mark Dacascos and John Hennigan also star, and Douglas Vermeeren, Gui DaSilva-Greene and Michael Edwards round out the named cast.

The film is set in a brutal post-apocalyptic world. At its centre is a conflicted interrogator who forms an alliance with a captured rebel commander. Stories like that depend on a tough, dusty landscape, and the production found one in Arizona.

Filming took place throughout the Globe, Arizona area. The Arizona Commerce Authority's Office of Film and Digital Media, the state's film support office, backed the shoot.

Josh Tessier directed the film. He also wrote the screenplay with Michael Edwards and Steven Smith. Tessier is also chief operating officer of Whiskey Panda Studios, a film and television production company, according to the studio's website.

Whiskey Panda Studios is producing the film in association with Jaguar Crest Studios and Real to Reel Capital. Brady Hallongren and Tessier produce for Whiskey Panda, while Devanny Pinn produces through Jaguar Crest. Justin L. Anderson is also a producer, and Joe Perez, Nick Stanner and Joe Foley are co-producers. Tessier, Hallongren, Edwards and Alla Kesser are executive producers, a credit usually given to people who help line up money and deals.

Those credits show how a film like this comes together. A writing team builds the story, a studio takes it on, and investors and partner companies provide funding. Then a crew travels to a location, shoots the scenes, and hands the footage to the editors. Each of those steps is a decision made by a specific person, and this one has now reached the end of its shoot.
