Jack Whitehall and Nina Dobrev Lead Romantic Comedy Honeymooners, Filming in Italy Next Year

Jack Whitehall, Nina Dobrev, Greg Kinnear and Andie MacDowell are set to star in a new romantic comedy called Honeymooners, Deadline reported on 6 November 2026.
The film is directed by Daryl Wein and produced under his Explosive Pictures banner. Filming is scheduled in Italy in the first quarter of 2027, which means the early months of next year.
Whitehall plays Freddy, and Dobrev plays Cleo. Kinnear and MacDowell play Marty and Julie, the parents of Freddy's character. The story follows a family trip to a vineyard outside Rome, where a honeymoon is taking place. Deadline describes it as a funny, intergenerational story about second chances and finding love where you least expect it.
Sales are moving ahead alongside the production. HanWay Films will launch international sales for the film at the American Film Market, the deal-making event in Los Angeles where sales companies show projects to distributors from around the world. Those buyers decide which territories get the film, and in what form. CAA Media Finance is handling sales in North America, the United States and Canada.
Plenty of films are announced at the market and take years to reach a screen. The date of 2027 for the shoot gives the production a clear first step.
For Whitehall and Dobrev, the cast pairs a British comedian known for his stand-up and screen work with an actor best known for television drama. Kinnear and MacDowell bring a longer screen history to the family roles. Together, the four names put a multi-generation comedy on the market before a single frame has been shot.
The next stage will be the shoot in Italy. Once cameras roll, buyers and audiences will have more to look at than a cast list and a logline.
