Keira Knightley Returns as a Spy in Black Doves Season 2 on Netflix

Keira Knightley is back as a super spy. Black Doves Season 2 has been streaming on Netflix since 5 November, with six episodes, according to Gold Derby.
Knightley plays Helen Webb, the spy at the centre of the show. Ben Whishaw plays Sam Young, and Sarah Lancashire plays Reed. In this season, Reed goes missing, and the story turns to her backstory.
The new run also changes things at home for Helen. Her husband, Wallace, played by Andrew Buchan, has become Prime Minister. Helen's secret identity almost comes out, and Sam makes a Faustian pact, meaning a deal that costs far more than it first appears, with a shady benefactor.
Creator Joe Barton is the writer and executive producer of the season, according to Netflix's Tudum site. In an interview with Variety, Knightley and Barton spoke about the season. Barton said he wanted to tell a "Berlin in the '80s" spy story.
The interview also covers some of the season's darker moments. Helen kills Marie, the nanny, played by Molly Chesworth. Helen laments the job with the line, "Do you know how hard it is to find a good nanny?" Another scene shows Helen about to shoot Franz, played by Rainer Wöss, while she is breastfeeding. Variety also points to the first season, where Helen shoots assassins while heavily pregnant.
Gold Derby reported that the season held a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the review aggregator that collects critics' reactions. Netflix's official page for the show also lists a Season 2 trailer.
For viewers who started the first season and stopped, the new run picks up with Helen's double life still in play. The six episodes are all available at once, so there is no weekly wait between instalments.
