Eric McCormack Leads Psychological Drama 'You're Safe Here', Now Filming in Toronto
Eric McCormack has been cast as the lead in You're Safe Here, a psychological drama now filming in Toronto, Ontario, according to Deadline.
The film is described as a character-driven story about loneliness, mortality, and what happens when love curdles into something monstrous. Jess Mastro wrote the screenplay. Nimisha Mukerji, whose previous directing credits include Under the Bridge and 911, is at the helm.
Joining McCormack on screen are Anja Savcic (Loudermilk, Big Sky), Jesse Rath (Supergirl, Defiance), and Bo Martynowska (Nancy Drew, Designated Survivor). Mastro, whose prior work includes The Dutchman, The Black Sea, and Underrated, also serves as Head of Development at the Launch Company.
For McCormack, the role adds another entry to a career that has moved freely between comedy and drama, television and film. He is best known for playing Will Truman across 246 episodes of NBC's Will & Grace, a performance that earned him the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Comedy in 2001. He has stars on both Canada's Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
His recent credits span a wide range. He starred in MGM+/Sony Studios' Nine Dead Bodies in a Mexican Morgue and the Hulu series The Other Black Girl. He also led the Netflix series Travelers, where he doubled as a director and producer. On the feature side, he appeared in Trust Me, and on television he headlined the TNT series Perception. Most recently, he was on Broadway in The Cottage.
