An Amazon Japan retail listing has surfaced a 16th September release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light, the James Bond action game from IO Interactive.

The listing was first spotted by users on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit and then reported by Eurogamer on 29 July 2026. Eurogamer noted the Amazon Japan product page remained online and unchanged at the time of writing. Insider Gaming had also covered the leak a day earlier, on 28 July.

007 First Light launched on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on 27 May 2026. The Switch 2 port has been a known quantity for months: Nintendo's own UK news page listed the game in a December 2025 roundup of titles coming to Switch 2 in 2026, and the official Nintendo product pages for the UK and Australian regions both carry the game. Nintendo's Spanish site, however, still lists the release date as "Por determinar" — to be determined. The UK page also tags the age rating as "PEGI 16 Provisional," meaning the rating has not yet been finalised.

IO Interactive has not publicly shown the game running on Switch 2 hardware. Senior licensing producer Theuns Smit offered some reassurance on that front, telling Eurogamer the team is seeing "really good progress on the optimisation side of things" for the port. A September release would land roughly four months after the game's debut on other platforms.

The game is selling well in the meantime. Studio director Hakan Abrak confirmed 007 First Light sold 2.7 million copies in its first week on sale, a figure he described as "closer to 3 million copies sold." The title also received its first major patch across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, adding bug fixes, new TacSim missions, and unlockable rewards. A "Year One" roadmap published in June 2026 — reported by Nintendo Life — reconfirmed a Summer 2026 release window for the Switch 2 version, which a 16th September date would technically satisfy, depending on how the calendar is read.

None of this is confirmed by IO Interactive or Nintendo. Retail listings have a mixed track record as release-date sources: they are often supplied by publisher distribution data, but they can also carry placeholder dates that sit uncorrected until pulled. Nintendo and IO Interactive have not issued statements on the listing.

For Switch 2 owners, the picture is narrowing. Nintendo has product pages live across multiple regions, the publisher's own roadmap targeted a summer window, and now a retail listing points to mid-September. An official confirmation would close the loop.
