Starsand Island, an anime-style cosy life sim from Chinese studio Seed Sparkle Lab, leaves Early Access on August 18, 2026 — six months after it first opened its doors to players. The full 1.0 launch arrives simultaneously worldwide at 5:00 AM PDT, bringing the game to its widest audience yet. RPG Site

The launch matters because two new platforms are joining the fold. Version 1.0 brings Starsand Island to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, alongside the existing PC and Xbox Series X/S versions that have been live since the game entered Early Access on February 11. VGC

For the uninitiated, Early Access is a model where developers release a game in unfinished form, gather player feedback, and continue building toward a "1.0" — the label for a finished, feature-complete release. Starsand Island spent its half-year in that stage on Steam and Xbox Game Pass, the subscription service that let members play during development at no extra cost.

The 1.0 update is substantial. It adds online multiplayer for up to four players to explore the island together, with a dedicated multiplayer shop accepting currency earned exclusively through co-op play. The game's social systems are also deepening: 19 NPCs (non-player characters, the game's scripted inhabitants) get new three-heart and five-heart relationship quests, and 14 romanceable characters gain fresh dating activities. At its core, Starsand Island is an open-world life sim — a genre built around farming, building friendships, dating, exploring, and battling monsters at a relaxed pace. Think Stardew Valley with a 3D anime coat of paint and a bigger world to wander.

Players who prefer a physical copy on their shelf will have to wait a bit longer. Cartridge and disc editions arrive November 12, priced at US$39.99 / €44.99 / £39.99 on Switch 2 and US$39.99 / €39.99 / £34.99 on PS5. VGC

For fans of the genre, the August 18 launch is one to watch. Cosy life sims have become one of the most crowded corners of the games market, and Starsand Island is betting that six months of player feedback, a cross-platform launch, and a deepened social loop will help it stand out.
