Four Games Leaving Xbox Game Pass on August 15 — Including Firewatch and Aliens: Fireteam Elite

Xbox Game Pass is losing four titles on August 15, 2026: Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Firewatch, and Menace. The news, first reported by independent outlets TrueAchievements, PureXbox, and GameRant on August 3, was confirmed by GameSpot on August 4.
Most of the departures affect Game Pass across all three platforms — cloud, console, and PC. The one exception is Menace, which leaves only its Game Preview build on PC. Game Preview is Xbox's early-access programme, where unfinished games are sold and updated before a full release. Atlas Fallen departs under its expanded edition title, Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand.
Subscribers who want to keep any of the four do not have to lose access entirely. Game Pass members get a 20% discount on titles before they leave the library, letting players buy the games outright at a reduced price and keep them in their personal collection.
For fans of the Aliens franchise, the timing is notable. Aliens: Fireteam Elite — a co-op shooter set in the Alien universe — exits Game Pass just ten days before its sequel arrives. Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 launches on August 25, 2026, according to GameSpot.
August's changes are not all subtractions. The month's first Game Pass wave adds Beast of Reincarnation as a headline title, and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers get access to the Gears of War: E-Day beta starting August 6, 2026.
The August 15 departures follow a busy July for the subscription service. Twenty games exited Game Pass across two waves that month — eleven in the first wave and eight in the second. Notable July departures included Celeste, Whiskerwood, Sniper Elite: Resistance, and Crusader Kings 3, with titles like Back to the Dawn and Crusader Kings 3 leaving on July 31 per Xbox's own Wave 2 announcement on July 21.
Xbox Game Pass operates on a rotating library model: games are added and removed in waves each month, so a title available today may not be tomorrow. The 20% purchase discount on departing games is one of the ways Microsoft softens that turnover for subscribers.
Firewatch, the 2016 narrative adventure from Campo Santo, is among the most recognisable names on the August leaving list. Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand is the enhanced re-release of Deck13's 2023 action RPG. Menace, still in Game Preview, is a squad-based tactics game. And Aliens: Fireteam Elite, from Cold Iron Studios, is a three-player co-op shooter that has been in the catalogue since 2023.
Players with an active Game Pass subscription have until August 15 to finish these four before they rotate out.
